Mater Dei is one of almost 15,000 councils from the Knights of Cloumbus, a worldwide Catholic fraternal men's organization founded by Father Michael J. McGivney. It was chartered in 1988 and currently has over 200 members who participate in a wide variety of charitable activities.
From the moment of our founding in 1882, charity has been the first principle of the Knights of Columbus. Through our Faith in Action programs, Knights and their families have greater opportunities to participate in a variety of activities that deepen their faith, promote the New Evangelization, and strengthen their families such as:
Our charitable activities encompass also an many other national and international projects. Our own unique charities include the Christian Refugee Relief Fund, Disaster Relief, Ultrasound Initiative, and Coats for Kids. We also partner with international charities including the Global Wheelchair Mission, Special Olympics and Habitat for Humanity.
